We had a really interesting afternoon and are looking forward to her coming to school to help the older ones do some felting.
Tuesday 17th September: Today we were invited to our own opening of the Yell Arts Group Exhibition at the Old Haa. We had a look at all the pictures and Cilla showed us how she had made some lino prints of a ram's head. We then had juice and nibbles! There is a slideshow with more photos on the school blog.
Friday 13th September: Today was Roald Dahl Day so we had a themed day including watching the Puffin Virtually Live meeting about his work.

You can read all about what we all did at the show on the pupil blog - see link above!
Friday 6th September: Today we harvested some of our crops to enter into Yell Show. We dug up some leeks, beetroot, tatties, carrots and lettuce and picked some peas. We had to weigh and count the tatties for our growing records.
We had to write the entry labels.
Us with all our entries!
Thursday 5th September: This morning we walked down to the polytunnel where we were given some space to see how our tattie varieties would grow indoors. We dug up 2 varieties to enter into Yell Show. We saw how Jennifer's veg are doing in there too.

Monday 2nd September: We had some visitors from The Netherlands who came to Burravoe Marina in their sailing boat during the school holidays. Whilst they were here they met several people including some of us from school. Today we had a lovely long letter and a card from them telling us how much they had enjoyed seeing the school and especially our school garden. We sent them some postcards back telling them some of the news about things which have happened since they were here.
At the end of last term we put in a shared bid, with Cullivoe School, to the Food for Thought fund, to enable us to learn more about Yell and Shetland aquaculture. Today we heard we had been successful so we are looking forward to being able to work together and with some of the businesses in Yell.
