Wednesday 29th September: This week we have had a visitor called Kerry-Jayne. This morning she did drama with us; we had to imagine which animal we were like, it was great fun!
Tuesday 28th September: Today we walked along to Mary and Magnie's; they have been harvesting so we went to see their corn stacks. Mary told us that they have to build them so that the mice can't get in.
Whilst we were there we looked at how our kale are doing.
Friday 24th September: This morning we held a Macmillan Coffee Morning; we raised over £260! Thank you very much to everyone who came and supported us in any way.
Friday 17th September: Today when we did our weekly learning diaries in Glowblogs some people added photos or links to other evidence to show their learning. We have been getting visitors from other countries to our school Glowblog; we have a map on the site so we can see how many visitors we have and where they come from - we hope you will look at it too!
In after school club today people chose what they wanted to make. It was very stormy outside for kite testing!
Thursday 16th September: This evening there was a Geology talk in Burravoe Hall; it was about the rocks in Yell. Some of the older children went to the lecture to get more information for their topic.
Wednesday 15th September: One of us won first prize in Yell Show for making lemon curd so this afternoon we all tried to make it using the same recipe; we cooked it in the microwave; it seemed a bit runny but its bound to be delicious!
Monday 13th September: This week's Show and Tell was a Treasure Hunt to test our observation skills; a lot of hard work went into the planning and we learned all about eyes and how they work as well as having to use them to look for things- there were even prizes!
Friday 10th September: Today was the first after school club for the session; we made Italian bread called Focaccia.
Tuesday 7th September: The weather forecast was for gales so we thought we had better harvest our oats today in case it all got blown down. we grew 2 kinds of oats: small oats and murkle oats. We are going to leave them to dry.
Monday 6th September: This morning Show and Tell was about books; we learned about authors, illustrators and about publishers. We talked about the blurb and how it helps us choose books. We also found out that some people like to read books that are in series and that there are a lot of books in the Rainbow Magic Series by Daisy Meadows.
Later in the morning Mr Edwards, our QIO, came for lunch; before lunch we showed him our Glowblogs and after lunch we took him for a walk to the Old Haa to see the Inukshuks we made for the geology exhibition and the big Inukshuks in the Old Haa garden.
Saturday 4th September: Today was Yell Show; we are really pleased that we won some prizes for our school produce. Lots of people won prizes in other classes too.
