Thursday 26th March: This afternoon the Young Ambassadors from Mid Yell JHS organised a dodgeball tournament for all the Yell Primary pupils. Everyone had a great afternoon so thank you to them and their S3 helpers!
Tuesday 24th March: This afternoon was warm and sunny so it was a good time to dig over the front bed.
Friday 20th March: This morning we went outside to look at the eclipse; Mr Leigh had given us some special viewers so it was safe for us to look at the sun. It was a bit cloudy but we managed to glimpse the sun a few times as the moon went in front of it. It went quite dark and got cold. Julia Lyth took some pictures from the playground.
Thursday 19th March: This afternoon Mr Chris Leigh, from the UK Schools' Observatory, talked to all the Yell P4,5,6,7 pupils about this week's solar eclipse. He was in Shetland because it is the best place in the UK to see the eclipse.
Friday 13th March: Today was Comic Relief's Red Nose Day. Everyone including pre-school group wore something red and asked for donations to come and play our Scratch games that we had made as part of Red Nose Scratch Your Nose Day. We collected £159 - thank you to everyone that came and to the pupil who was sponsored for not speaking all day!
Thursday 5th March: Today is World Book Day. We joined with the other schools in Yell in having a Disney theme and helping Peanuts, our Librarian, raise money for a Shelter Box. Peanuts raised over £500 which is enough to buy a box. In the morning Mrs Colclough worked with the children to learn about Shelter Boxes and when they might be needed.
Tuesday 3rd March: This week is the Scottish Government is celebrating Digital Learning Scotland Week - there are events all week to encourage more people to be aware of Digital Learning. As part of our contribution we joined in with a collaborative story writing project in Glow. We wrote our chapter today and will follow the story all week and look forward to the finished story on Friday! Education Scotland included us in their blog about the week.
