Friday March 21st: Today we were told that we had won the Shetland ForWirds dialect prize and the trophy for Primary Classroom Groups (1-3 tchr) at the Music Festival. Tonight everyone and some of their families went to Cullivoe to see the "So Much to Sea" exhibition, to try out some seafood and to have a fish and chip supper. We listened to Cullivoe School singing as well. We were able to use our Food for Thought funding to help us get there. It was a good end to a very busy week!
Thursday March 20th: This morning Mr Edwards, our QIO, came to see what we have been doing - everyone had lots to tell him. This evening we all got on a bus again to go down to Lerwick to perform at the Gala Concert - everyone did really well and we were able to see some of the other performances too. Reports, pictures and video are on the children's blog.
Wednesday March 19th: This afternoon we were invited to perform in the Schools' Music Festival Gala Concert tomorrow night - everyone was very excited!
Tuesday March 18th: Today we went to Lerwick to perform at the Shetland Schools' Music Festival. We played and sang Minnie O'Shirva's Cradle Song - it is a dialect song. We were all very proud to be awarded a gold plus by the adjudicator! You can read more about it on the children's blog.
Thursday March 13th: This morning we were invited to go to the Leisure Centre to hear the Shetland Youth Wind Band play. We were a bit early arriving so some of the musicians came to show us their instruments and how they work. Some people even had a try and getting some notes! We really enjoyed the concert.
Monday March 10th: Today is Commonwealth Day and Sport Your Trainers Day. We all wore our trainers and went for a walk around Burravoe to celebrate the day. We looked for signs of spring whilst we were out; we say some shalders (oyster catchers ) and saw Magnie and Mary drenching their sheep.
