January 2010
Friday 29th January: Today we had snow; we came to school but then the Schools Service said we had to go home again.
Wednesday 27th January: We did a cool experiment. We made a mountain in the sand and poured water over it. We put stones on it because we wanted to see if erosion happened.
Monday 25th January: We had a long power cut so we didn't start school until 10 o'clock. We did show and tell in the office because the classroom was still cold. P3 to P6 started learning Ghost Busters for the music festival.
Friday 22nd January: We drew pictures with lines with Miss Anderson. The big ones made Go Go town with a big box.
Thursday 21st January: We did swimming P1 and P2 put their heads under the water.
Wednesday 20th January: Today is the first day that the children are going to take over writing the blog.
The P1-P3 have made a castle and a carriage and painted them.
Friday 15th January: At the end of the day we all had a go at making a game using 2DIY and playing each others. Our P1 made this game called: " My Mummy Dress up". It is a drag and drop game; you can use the arrow keys to change the size and to rotate the clothes.
Monday 11th January: This afternoon we recorded the songs we had rehearsed for the Christmas concert which got cancelled because of the snow; after talking to Mrs Martin we realised that we wouldn't be able to rearrange the concert for a while by which time we wouldn't feel at all Christmassy. We decided to save the play we wrote until next year and to record the music and publish it here for people to listen to.
They are all mp3 files.

While we have been having such calm clear days it has been very cold but we have also had some amazing sunrises and sunsets. This was the sun rising just after 9am this morning. The picture was taken from the school playground looking towards Skerries.
Friday 8th January: There was still no school transport today as the roads are still frozen. The temperatures are so cold at the moment that we had a lesson about minus numbers and then wondered if we could get water and salt water to freeze outside. We started a science experiment.
Thursday 10th January
Today was the first day of the new term. We have had a lot of snow and the roads on Yell are not very safe at the moment. We decided to start school at 10am so everyone could come in the daylight. The roads were too bad for the school transport to run so not everyone could come today.
Some people had brought their sledges to school so at lunchtime everyone played on them. Its not often Hazel, our playground supervisor, has sledge pusher on her job description!
