Wednesday 27th February: Today Ross and Feionne finished their music story.
Tuesday 26th February: Today Philip Ashley- Smith, Active Schools Co-ordinator and Claire Jamieson, NHS Shetland's Health Promotions Officer, came to visit us to check that we had done enough to be awarded Health Promoting School status. We had already submitted a file of evidence and that, and their chat to P6, convinced them that we had! Thank you to everyone who has helped us make health promotion an everyday part of our work.
Monday 25th February: Today we all logged onto Glow for the first time. We are one of the pilot schools in Shetland and are looking forward to exploring the potential of this fantastic new resource. This is the beginning of an exciting new time for us and for Scottish Education.
Thursday 21st February: Today we heard that enough money has been raised to buy the bus for the school in Tamil Nadu. We were sent a photo. We have been asked if we would like to twin with a school in Tamil Nadu and we have all decided that we would like to do that.

Friday 15th February: Today Claire from the oral health team came to check on our toothbrushing team. She says we are doing very well and the scheme is making a difference to the health of our teeth.
Monday 11th February: Today Robert Sim and Craig Chapman came to talk to us about us starting to use Glow. We are going to be a pilot school for Shetland.
Friday 8th February: Today Jeanette Nowak came for the day; after the tsunami in 2004 she went to Tamil Nadu to work in some schools there and so she came to tell us about life in that part of India. In the morning some of our preschool group joined us whilst she showed us her photos and some video clips about the village where she stayed and then told us about the artefacts she had brought with her. In the afternoon she talked to us about rangoli patterns and we made some of our own. We had a very interesting day; thank you Jeanette.

Wednesday 6th February: This week we have been finding out about farming in India. We watched a DVD of coconut growing. Today we tried coconut. P6 enjoyed finding ways of getting into the coconut to get the milk out and then breaking it so we could try the inside.

Tuesday 5th February: Helen Budge, the Head of the Schools Service, came today, she came to ask us what we liked about school and what we thought she could do to make school even better. She explained that it is important that she makes sure everyone in Shetland is getting the same opportunities.
Friday 1st February: Today all the schools in Shetland were closed because the weather was so bad; we had very fierce gales.
