December 2006
Thursday 21st December
Today is the last day of term for us as we are having an occasional day tomorrow. In the morning we opened our post box and sorted and delivered the cards. At lunchtime, Elsie and Svitlana cooked us a fantastic Christmas lunch; we invited the School Board and some other friends of the school. After lunch we opened our Christmas presents from under the tree. Tonight everyone will go to The Christmas Tree party at Burravoe Hall.

Our Christmas tree
Wednesday 20th December
Today we had to put together our new bookcases, the one with the display top was very hard to get the screws into. It was good problem solving because we had to find the right bits to fit together; 2 of the booksheves came with no ends on them so Vladik and Ross had to fit them on. The corner unit's screw holes didn't line up with the bookcase so we had to find a way of making it fit. The lady at the factory said it was a design fault!

Last night, when the Dads were putting up the Christmas tree in Burravoe Hall, they found a ladybird in the tree. We don't get lady birds in Shetland because it is so windy in Shetland, so we have it in school today to look at; Feionne took a picture of it.
Tuesday 19th December
Today we have made our first mp3 file to go on to Radio Burravoe. It is of our ensemble piece that we played at the concert. We haven't gone live on the station yet but will soon. Have a look and listen to some other Radiowaves stations.
SIC have published their performance statistics calendar - we are pleased that, in it, there is a picture of Vladik, Ross and Feionne busy during a technology lesson.
Monday 18th December
Tonight we performed the play we had written in St Colman's Kirk. Afterwards everybody came back to the school for refreshments and then we had a concert. There were so many people that we didn't have enough chairs! The children had asked that the donations be given to the Hope Foundation which is hoping to buy a minibus for the children at their schools in Tamil Nadu in India; we raised £130.77. Mr Iain Gunn, of the Caithness Initiative at the Edge Group, had donated a hamper to us which we raffled at the concert; we made £131 for the School Fund. We are very grateful to everyone who came and was so generous.
Thursday 14th December
Today we were meant to go to the Leisure Centre but the gale meant that our PE teacher was stuck on the mainland and our knitting instructor was stuck on Unst because the ferries stopped running. We did some work on our calendars and finished a Christmas display instead.
Sunday 3rd December
Today we put up our Christmas tree.
