Friday 31st August: Tomorrow is Yell Show so this morning we went out to look at our veggies to see which ones we should enter in the produce section. We dug up some beetroot, leeks and carrots and looked for tatties in our tattie sacks. P1 picked the peas; they had to sort them and find 6 peapods that had the same shape and size for our entry. In the afternoon P2+ counted and weighed the tatties for our ongoing Crofting Connection records and then prepared all the veg for display. They had to write out all the entry labels as well.
Wednesday 29th August: In art this term we are doing different types of printing; this afternoon we tried string printing.
Monday 27th August: Today P1 and P2 read The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle . Afterwards they made their own caterpillars based on bread rolls!
Friday 24th August: Fridays is after school club day - today P4 and above baked; they made gingerbread men.
Thursday 23rd August: The weather was much better today so people were out on the zipline before school started to have their first turns for ages!
Wednesday 22nd August: Today we had the zipline repaired; we have been waiting for some new parts for ages and we are really pleased to see it fixed! The weather was really bad today so we couldn't try it out :(
Tuesday 21st August: Today we weeded the front bed; there were a lot of caterpillars eating our cauliflowers too so we had cut off some leaves and pick off some caterpillars from others.
Monday 20th August: This morning P1 and P2 read Handa's Surprise by Eileen Browne; afterwards they made fruit kebabs. They put 7 fruits on their sticks which is the same number of delicious fruits that Handa put in her basket for her friend, Akeyo.
Wednesday 15th August: Today is the first day of our new session, we are very pleased to welcome 3 new P1 children to the school. We spent the morning catching up with our holiday news and making sure we were ready for the new term and this afternoon we visited the gallery at The Old Haa to see the current exhibition of work by Hannah Frank.
