April 2010

Friday 30th April: This afternoon we walked down to the Old Haa to meet Mike and Dan and put the mini Inukshuks into the new display case which Dan has made for them. Mike showed us the detailed geological map of Yell. We looked at some Inuit pictures and some photos from the Arctic ready for an exhibition in July.

Monday 26th April: We learned some words for Fever.
Friday 23rd April: Miss Smith has come to visit us. In the afternoon Mike McDonnell came to make Inukshuks with us; we had lots of fun. The Inukshuks will be shown in the Old Haa so I hope people will come along and look at them. They are made out of stones which come from Yell.

Wednesday 14 April: Today we learned about rocks, we sorted out all of the rocks we have found. We were looking at the atlas and finding all different places in the UK.
Tuesday 13th April: Today is the first day of term. The weather was beautiful so we went for a walk to the beach at the Marina to look for stones for our "Rocks Project". We are working with the Old Haa looking at the amazing geology of Yell. On the way we took some photos to send to Winterton School.

We had a letter from Glow Scotland saying that we won a competition that we entered and a bendy glowing keyboard is the prize. We had to make a film saying I love Glow because...

Monday 12th April: We have had a letter from Winterton C of E Infants' School in Scunthorpe asking us to tell them about living in our community. They are learning about places in different parts of the UK and have chosen us as the school from Scotland. We will be sending them some photos and telling them something about life in Burravoe.
