Friday 30th April: This afternoon we walked down to the Old Haa to meet Mike and Dan and put the mini Inukshuks into the new display case which Dan has made for them. Mike showed us the detailed geological map of Yell. We looked at some Inuit pictures and some photos from the Arctic ready for an exhibition in July.
Wednesday 28th April: We went to Zoo Lab, there were a few animals. Most of us held and touched them. Everyone liked the rat and the toad.
Tuesday 27th April: We got our heater fixed by Ness Engineers.
Monday 26th April: We learned some words for Fever.
Friday 23rd April: Miss Smith has come to visit us. In the afternoon Mike McDonnell came to make Inukshuks with us; we had lots of fun. The Inukshuks will be shown in the Old Haa so I hope people will come along and look at them. They are made out of stones which come from Yell.
Thursday 22nd April: Linda came to teach P5/P6 some hand signals for cycling.
Wednesday 21st April: Next years P1s came to try school this afternoon.
Monday 19th April: Today we played our new game Mario Kart for the Wii. The LTS Consolarium lent it to us.
Friday 16th April: We filled the peat pots with compost for Virtual Veggies. P1, P2 and P3 filled pots with compost and planted their totties.
Thursday 15th April: Virtual Veggies had a meeting to deside which vegetable we were going to grow. Today we made clay models based on Inuit art. We had fun swim in the afternoon.
Wednesday 14 April: Today we learned about rocks, we sorted out all of the rocks we have found. We were looking at the atlas and finding all different places in the UK.
Tuesday 13th April: Today is the first day of term. The weather was beautiful so we went for a walk to the beach at the Marina to look for stones for our "Rocks Project". We are working with the Old Haa looking at the amazing geology of Yell. On the way we took some photos to send to Winterton School.
After piece we went for a walk in the other direction to take some more photos to send to Winterton School. When we got back P1, P2 and P3 planted some Shetland Black tatties; this is part of our work for the Crofting Connections project.
We had a letter from Glow Scotland saying that we won a competition that we entered and a bendy glowing keyboard is the prize. We had to make a film saying I love Glow because...
Monday 12th April: We have had a letter from Winterton C of E Infants' School in Scunthorpe asking us to tell them about living in our community. They are learning about places in different parts of the UK and have chosen us as the school from Scotland. We will be sending them some photos and telling them something about life in Burravoe.
