April 2008
Wednesday 30th April: Today Andy Ross came. We are writing an opera about Gorilla Guy!
Tuesday 29th April: Today 2 of P3 finished their knitting.

Monday 28th April: Today a lot of people were away ill so we had a quiet day! In the afternoon we went to the Hall for a dance lesson with Miss Morrison.
Friday 25th April: This morning Miss Breyley took P1 and P2 to the Leisure Centre for nursery transition morning. There were lots of different activities and we had a great time. Thank you to all the nursery staff for having us!

This afternoon the weather was nice so we thought it was a good time to do a bit of gardening. We refilled some of our big pots and planted some potatoes in them and we cleaned up the big bed in front of the school ready for planting.

Thursday 24th April: This morning we went to Mid Yell for a science morning - it was based around a rocks workshop with Peter and Marjory Craig from Aberdeenshire. P6 had a long workshop; the younger ones had a taster session and then spent the rest of the morning trying different science activities. We made rockets with Mr Lawson which shot metres into the air! Thank you to Mr Lawson for organising the morning which was logistically challenging!
Tuesday 22nd April: We had a busy day today! This morning Paul Smyth and Elsie Young from the national Glow team came to see what we had been doing with Glow. They interviewed us on video so that they can show other people how impressed they were with us. Afterwards, Paul showed us some more tools we can use.
This afternoon we had a visit from Ydance. Unfortunately, they got stuck in Unst because of the problems with the ferries so they were a bit late but Marina took along our knitting so we did that in the hall whilst we waited!

Monday 21st April: Today Miss Morrison brought in her clarinet and showed us how it makes a sound. Nearly everyone had a try at blowing a note. The peeries ones were better at it than the big ones! At the end of the day she played a duet with Miss Wiseman, our piano instructor. We were very impressed as they had never met each other before and didn't even need a run through!
